Miscellanea

RIP
Rest in peace my favorite, lovely black cashmere turtleneck that H very thoughtfully decided to wash for me in hot water. Some small child whose parents shop at Goodwill will hopefully love you as much as I did the whole 4 times I wore you.

Things I Didn't Know to Ask About
As some of you might recall, back in December H and I bought a new washer and dryer. The washer is a front loading which is supposed to be super duper, more energy efficient, etc., which it may be but all I know is that a regular load of laundry, no extended rinse, no extended spins, etc., takes 54 minutes. If you add details such as heavily soiled, extra rinse, extra spin, etc., it can get up to 72 minutes to wash one load of clothes. I think this is a bit excessive.

Weather Report
It's a LOVELY day in Tahoe today. Brilliant blue sky. Blinding bright sun reflecting off the 6' of snow in the front yard. Lovely, just lovely.

Something To Be Grateful For (Mum, Don't Read This)
I got to Tahoe last night around 10:00 and was promptly met at the door by the dog and cats all vying for my attention (H was in bed asleep). Jake being the biggest usually gets attention first so I petted him, let him kiss my face all over, etc., and when he was done he wanted to go out so, knowing that the later I let him out in the evening the later in the morning he starts bugging me, I let him out. From there I went on to give the kittens attention and then walked back to the bedroom to say hello to H. I figured I'd wake him up, give him a hug and a kiss and then go let the dog back in. But, H woke up, we had our hugs and kisses hello, and then he had other things on his mind which I was lured into participating in. So, after a rousing round of hello, we promptly conked out. Around 4:30 a.m. a funny noise woke me up, a loud scratching noise. I thought it was one of the cats in the litter box so rolled over and went back to sleep. A few minutes later, I heard it again so I asked H what it was. He was close to being right when he said "It's just the dog getting into something." I thought about going to see what it was but was tired so, once more rolled over and went back to sleep. Well, the scratching went on and on for at least an hour and a half and kept waking me up so I finally decided to get up and see what it was and . . . heh . . . it was Jake scratching on the door to be let back into the house. Thankfully, he didn't get lured out and killed by coyotes. I feel so bad the poor dog's been getting all sorts of treats today and . . . H, blissfully, is unaware.
