Wild Card Playoff Game

In Indy for the Colts vs. Jets.  Things not going as wonderfully as the November trip so, hopefully that means the Colts will win. Last trip - everything was fabulous but the Colts lost. This trip - everything is eh to lousy but . . . if that means the Colts win, I'll take it.

Go Colts!!!

NFL Regular Season Wrap Up

Well, today was the last day of regular season football in the NFL.  The Raiders were knocked out of post-season contention last Saturday morning by the KC Chiefs winning their morning game but the Colts were still in the running.  Ironlically, the Raiders last game of the season was against the KC Chiefs and we slaughtered them - 31 to 10.

Sadly, the Raiders are the first team in NFL history (since the merger) to go undefeated in their division (meaning they beat all of their AFC West divisional rivals this season - twice) but not make it to the playoffs. So, while the Raiders beat every team in their division, twice, the KC Chiefs emerge as the AFC West champs. In my heart and mind, the Raiders are the true AFC West champs.

The Raiders lost to the Colts on 12/26 (but barely and their best defensive player was out and I really believe that had he been in, the Raiders might have won) which kept the Colts post-season dreams alive. They, the Colts, were tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars for 1st place in their division but with their win over the Raiders, the Colts slipped into first place.

However, they were only ahead by one game so this week -- the last week -- was the deciding game. If the Colts won and the Jags lost - Colts get in. If they both lost - Colts get in. If they both won - Colts get in. But if the Colts lost and the Jags won - Jags would get in.  Thankfully the Colts won but . . . barely which doesn't bode well for their post-season chances cuz, they barely beat the Titans who were playing with their 2nd string, fairly washed up, QB.

But, a win is a win and they are going to the playoffs. They play the Jets this Saturday in the AFC wildcard game at home in Indianapolis. I'm glad for them but . . . for some odd reason my enthusiasm is muted. I think it's still from the Raider/Colts game -- I sat on the Colts side, 2nd row, and seeing them all happy and celebrating their win over my Raiders really bugged me and I just haven't gotten over it.

Which is what makes my current dilemma so weird. I want to go to this weekend's game in Indy. I'm supposed to be going to Vail with one of my brothers and my crazy sister but . . . I'd rather go to the Indy game. And, I'm not sure why other than I do still love my Manning and the team . . . even if I do still slightly resent their defense for doing that stupid dance when they beat the Raiders. I can get a ticket on the 50 yard line for face value.

Do I go?
