Random Observations

If I were Supreme Ruler of the Universe, people who spit in public would be incinerated on the spot.

It's funny, when I burn Duraflames in the fireplace, the cats won't go near it. When I burn wood, they love to lie in front of it. Jack's flopped out right now, roasting away.

As of last weekend, three neighbors already had Xmas lights up and lit.

The girl that's in the PalmPre commercials is odd looking. I'm assuming they picked her because of that but, I don't get the point. Maybe they think she looks futuristic?

I also don't get that commercial for toilet paper where everyone whispers. It doesn't make sense to me.

When I went to Home Depot yesterday, everything in there was Xmas, Xmas, Xmas.

I can't wait for Thanksgiving. The funny thing is, I could make turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings anytime I want but, I never do and I will wait, with growing anticipation for Thanksgiving dinner. Why is that?

H just called from a bar, wanted to know who sang "Inner City Blues" and "Trouble Man" -- he thought it was Curtis Mayfield. It's Marvin Gaye.

Mission Accomplished

I went up to my brother's house to hand out candy last night -- he gets hundreds of kids, we had 400 candy bars (full size candy bars) and ran out of candy before the kids stopped coming and that was with giving only one per kid.

I wore my ghost costume and got the desired affect. Startled a bunch of kids, made a bunch laugh and . . . unfortunately, made one little boy cry hysterically.

The front doors of my brother's house are huge double doors and 2/3rds of them are glass with ironwork over it so the kids could see me coming as I walked to the door to answer it. We purposely left the lights off in the entry hall to add to the spookiness. So, the doorbell rang, I started walking towards the door, hands up to look ghostly and there were two kids there, with their dad, a little boy about 4 and a little girl about 5. When they saw me coming, the little boy started screaming and crying and turned and ran for the stairs (you have to walk up 2.5 flights of stairs to get to my bro's front door) and the little girl just froze. This is an aerial view of the house and you can see the stairs in this pic (the whiteish thing -- on the left side of the pic) they don't look as steep in the pic as they are in real life but you get the picture.

I was worried that the little boy was going to launch himself down the stairs in his haste to get away from me so I started taking off my costume as I got closer to the door so he would calm down. When he saw that I was taking it off, he stopped running blindly for the stairs and turned back but still stood there crying really hard for the rest of the time they were there. I felt so bad but it was kind of funny. Poor baby.

We had dinner of grilled steaks and a greek salad, both really good, and then drank (I indulged and had 1/2 a margarita), watched game 3 of the World Series and played liar's dice until about 1:00 a.m. It was a bad night for team Gazer -- one of my brothers won 2 games but other than that, all other games were won by Sam or Karen -- the other couple there. They were definitely en fuego. And totally trashed which made it even funnier, in a way.

How was your Halloween?
