What WAS He Thinking?

H: I wasn’t going to mention this but, if we have to evacuate, I can’t go.

Urban: Why?

H: Well, cuz I’ll have to stay and help.

Urban: Why?

H: Well, they won’t let me leave.

Urban: When were you going to tell me this?

H: I was hoping I wouldn’t have to.

Urban: But, what if I had left on Monday and left the cats and dog and then we had to evacuate and you couldn’t leave? What would happen to the animals?

H: I wouldn’t let them be hurt. I would take care of them.

Urban: How? If you have to leave the house but can’t leave the area, where would you put them?

H: At the boarding place.

Urban: And if the boarding place had to evacuate?

H: You can’t burn that place down.

Urban: You say that about everything and look at what’s happening.

H: They’d be fine.

Urban: Yeahhh . . . so, the fire comes here, we have to evacuate, I’m in the bay area, you can’t leave, the animals are at the boarding place, they have to evacuate . . . what happens then? They would leave them. What were you thinking? Why in the world would you not tell me that you couldn’t leave?

H: Well, I didn’t want you to panic.

Long silence . . .

Urban: Hello? Do you know me at all? What in the world would make you think I would panic? When have I ever panicked about anything?

H: (laughing) Gee, I don’t know . . . maybe I thought you might be concerned for my welfare.

Urban: (cracking up) Ohh, well . . . sure. There’s that but . . . I wouldn’t panic. You’re a big boy, you can take care of yourself.

Looks exchanged . . . belly laugh issues forth from Urban.

H: Thanks for the belly laugh. I feel so loved now.

Looks exchanged . . . both start cracking up.

Urban: Yeah, well . . . you’re a big boy and a bad man. You should have told me sooner.

H: Yeah, what was I thinking?

Fire Update

The bad news is . . . it's shifting towards us.
The good news is . . . they keep saying it won't make it here.
The bad news is . . . they said it wouldn't make it to where it is now.

Tahoe Fire

Thanks everyone who asked about the fire, I really appreciate your concern. I finally found a map and the fire is actually closer than I thought but we're still okay for now. This gives you an idea of where the fire is and where we are.

We can smell the smoke and the skies are dark and hazy but it seems to be moving away from us.

Again, thanks for the concern!!
