Boy, Jack is getting too big for his britches. This morning he wanted to cuddle and I was lying on my side so he started tapping me on the shoulder from behind. This is what he does when he wants me to roll over onto my back so he can crawl up on my chest and cuddle. I was tired and not complying so after tapping about four times, he bapped me on the back of my head.
That, of course, got a response. I shouted "Hey!!" and he ran off so, nobody won. I was forced to wake up even though I was trying to stay asleep and he didn't get his cuddle cuz I yelled and he ran.
After my idiot filled day yesterday I decided to hang out at home today and do nothing. Mostly nothing. I hung a set of baskets in the kitchen. Baked some banana nut muffins that came out pretty good -- I fiddled with the recipe cuz I wanted to add oats to the recipe I was trying and it worked. After I made them I realized I shoulda added the blueberries that are in the fridge and getting old. Dang it. Oh well.
I spent the rest of the day restoring my computer since my laptop's hard drive was dying so I replaced it this morning. I anticipated this and had backups of everything so I didn't lose anything just had to reinstall allllllll the applications which is time consuming. The hardest thing to restore was my iTunes cuz it kept duplicating the files. I had to uninstall and reinstall it four times before I got it right. And now I'm having to redownload all my audiobooks.
Plus, when I was at Costco yesterday, I bought all five seasons of Boston Legal and have been watching that all day -- in between all this other stuff. I love this show. Never saw it while it was on, a friend convinced me to check it out and I caught a couple of reruns and . . . was hooked. It's so damn funny. It's so completely unrealistic -- nothing like the real practice of law in any way -- but that's what makes it so damn funny and campy. I love it.
One of the things that was on my mind this weekend was the potential BART strike. They're threatening to strike as of end of work today which would make tomorrow's commute a nightmare but it looks like they're going to work it out. Unfortunate, in a way, as much as I was dreading dealing with everyone in my department suddenly claiming to be BART riders and wanting to not come in (I actually had people ask, on Friday, whether they still had to work on Monday if BART went on strike) I was kind of hoping that they would strike and that Schwartzenegger would pull a Reagan and fire them all (even though the chances of that happening were nill).
It's pretty sickening. The lowest paid of the three BART unions rejected the contract and are threatening to strike. This union represents the agents and drivers. Agents sit in a booth and do nothing but be rude to people all day. The drivers don't really drive, they just monitor because everything is automated. They're rejecting the contract because BART wants to freeze their wages, have them contribute to their health care costs and contribute to their own retirements and they think that's so awful they're going to strike.
The sickening thing is, the average salary of the members of this union is . . . OVER $120,000 per year. It's fucking ridiculous. I figured these people made maybe $50K or $60K. But they average over $120K which means some make more. I was hoping they'd fire them all and hire all new people. They could pay people half of what these people are making and those people would be grateful for the pay and still be overpaid.
BART is losing money every year, mostly due to these ridiculous wages. And, the thing is . . . people are so disgusted by this -- finding out how much these people make and how greedy they're being -- and a lot of people I know are talking about not taking BART anymore, whether or not they go on strike, because they don't want to support the greedy pigs. So, it'll be interesting.
What will be most interesting will be seeing how many people pretend they didn't know the strike was off and don't show up for work tomorrow (if the strike is averted).

Pharmacy Update
So, I walked over to the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions and there were two people standing in line, a guy standing at the counter, and no-one behind the counter. I got in line and stood there waiting. Another woman walked up and got behind me.
As we stood there waiting I noticed a little poster that said, "The Longs Drugs you always trusted has now become the CVS pharmacy that you will love." and I made the comment that it was actually the CVS pharmacy that I hated. Everyone in line laughed and said they pretty much felt the same way. After about 5 minutes I asked the guy at the counter if he had been helped and he said that he hadn't, he was waiting for someone to show up.
The pharmacist was in the back area just ignoring us all so I walked up to the counter and peeked around and that idiotic pharmacy tech was sitting on a low stool, behind the counter at the opposite end, doing nothing. Just freaking sitting there looking at nothing so I said, "You know, there's a line of people here waiting for you to do your job." and he looked up at me, looked surprised and stood up and came over. Swear.
The prescription was right, paid for it and left.
I'm transferring my prescriptions to somewhere else. If this were just one incident I would be more tolerant but everytime has been ridiculous. The first time I spent 20 minutes with a pharmacy tech discussing my test strips because she kept being idiotic about them, freaking test strips.
Sigh . . .
