I went to Target today to get supplies and got:
Shampoo
Deodorant
Swiffer Wet Jet Spray Stuff
Swiffer Wet Jet Pads
Windex
Dawn Dishwashing Liquid
Bathmat
Laundry stain remover
And it was over $100. Surprising.

For the first time in about a month you can see the floor of my bedroom. Between piles of dirty laundry (separated in prep for washing) and a spring cleaning of my closet to get rid of clothes I haven't worn in years, the floor's been MIA for a while. I'm on like my 8th load of laundry and have two more to go.
Scout is funny, she sleeps cuddled with me at night but wanders off as things strike her -- need for food, litter box, etc. When she comes back to bed and wants back into her "spot" she sometimes has to wake me up to get back there (because I've shifted positions, etc.) so she has developed little ways of waking me up. She starts with tapping me with her paw. She starts with my shoulder, if I don't respond starts tapping my face, if that doesn't work she'll lick my eyelid. Lately, I've been trying to discourage this behavior by ignoring her so she's added a new trick -- she sticks her nose in my ear and huffs. That generally works from sheer shock factor.
I was talking with my best friend about a trip we're planning for the Fall, it's a redo of a trip we took about 20 years ago in the Spring, we talked about wanting to do the same trip in the Fall and I figured it's about time we did it. The original trip originated in Tucson, we rented a convertible and took off for two weeks. We had no set agenda, no reservations, nothing. We just got in the car and drove whereever the mood struck.
She and I travel well together, both are comfortable doing our own thing if we want to do different things, neither feels like we have to do everything together or agree on everything, etc. If we both want to do the same thing, we do it. If we want to do different things, we do them. We started in Tucson and wandered up to Kitt Peak, then through Easter Arizona into New Mexico. We went to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos. We went North into Southern Colorado for a short bit, West to Utah, then back down into Arizona to Flagstaff, Sedona, Prescott, Phoenix and back to Tucson. We wandered through Indian Reservations. Saw the abandoned Anasazi Cliff dwellings. Went to Canyon de Chelle. Went to the Grand Canyon, etc.
The weather was perfect, the company excellent, and it was 2.5 weeks of total relaxation and fun. So, we're planning a Fall version of that trip this year. We're not going to retrace our exact steps but do the same thing -- head out from Tucson and go where we want. Some places we will revisit because we really enjoyed them, others we'll likely avoid because they weren't all that, and there are a couple of places we didn't go that I'd like to visit. It'll be interesting to see if it's as wonderful as the original trip.
When she and I were talking last night, she mentioned that she was talking with her husband about the trip and he had said that he was a little concerned about the idea of two women wandering around alone all over the Southwest by themselves. She said that she told him not to worry, that'd we'll be fine because, "No-oe in their right minds would even think of messing with Urban, especially if they know her." there was a pause and then we both started cracking up laughing for a good several minutes.
I pointed out that I think what Steve is concerned about are people who are NOT in their right minds bothering us and that likely no-one we encountered on the trip would know me and she said, "That doesn't matter, even someone out of their mind would sense that messing with you would be a bad idea." We both started cracking up again. When we finally stopped laughing I thought about it and said, "Hey! What are you saying?". We started cracking up again and I told her I decided to take it as a compliment.
The funny thing is, she's 5' 11" and about 200 lbs. I'm a shrimp comparitively so . . . it's funny that she thinks I'm the deterrent but . . . I don't think she's referring to my physical stature.
Okay . . . time to get up and go face the world. Another day in the trenches.
