So . . . I’m slightly freaked out right now. I woke up around 4:00 a.m. from a dream that one of my brothers had died. The thing that was so freaky about the dream was that it was totally realistic, none of those weird little anomalies you find in dreams that sort of clue you in that you’re dreaming. In my dream, he was in a bad part of town and had stopped at a liquor store for something and a guy was robbing the store and shot my brother.
When I heard the news I was upset and crying and thinking about having to tell my boss that I wouldn’t be in for a couple of days, etc. Even had the same job and boss that I actually have in real life, etc. Nothing odd.
So, I woke up, got out of bed and sent my brother a text message asking if he’s okay, puttered around for about 15 minutes and then went back to bed and . . . the dream picked right back up again with me helping arrange the funeral and then going to the funeral, etc.
So, now I’m a little freaked cuz I’ve very rarely been able to pick up a dream after waking up and have NEVER been able to pick up a dream after getting out of bed, walking around for 15 minutes, etc., and then going back to bed.
This brother happens to be, right now, in Miami on a swank, all expenses paid trip to the Super Bowl – luxury suite at the game and the whole gig – so I’m guessing he’s okay but . . . I’m still a little weirded out and will be until I talk to him.

The future of our country
Overheard on the train to SF:
Cell phone rings . . . mediumly attractive girl answers:
"Hi, Joanne."
"No, Pedro didn't want to do that because he was afraid it was stolen."
"No, Pedro is going to do it."
"Yeah, I told him it had to be done by 8:30."
"What? Oh, it's 8:25."
"He's not there yet? Oh. Well, I just spoke with him a little bit ago. He should be there to set up soon. I'll let you know when I talk to him again."
Girl hangs up . . . phone rings again.
"Hey girl, I was just going to call you back. So, as I was saying, I hate my job. Well, I don't really hate my job. I like HAVING a job and the people are nice but, my job requires a lot of attention to detail and . . . that's not exactly my strong point. I don't do details. Like this morning, I was supposed to be there to have a projector set up for a huge meeting that's starting at 8:30. GM is going to be there, Saturn is going to be there, and companies like that. It's a huge presentation and I was supposed to be there to set it up by 8:30 but, I'm still on the train. But, well, I did my best.
We were drinking all day yesterday, it was SO much fun. I like that part of my job. It was a BBQ and drinking. A drinking BBQ. All day. Oh! And I have an arch-nemesis at work. Her name is Catherine and she's like very, VERY, VERY cute and everyone just loves her because she's so cute and so nice. So, she's like my arch enemy. But, I found a flaw in little miss popular. She's a slut. Well, we were out drinking all day yesterday and she was saying things that told me she was a slut. Things about guys at the BBQ and what she'd like to do to them. Sooooo, nice to know some dirt on little miss perfect. It's good to know she isn't perfect."
Girl gets another call . . . puts the current call on hold and clicks over to new call . . .
"Pedro? Hi. Can you do me a favor? Joanne needs a projector set up for some meeting this morning, I was supposed to do it but I'm running late? Can you take care of it?"
Pedro says something . . .
"Oh, well . . . when do you think you'll be in? Okay, well, that's still before me so can you just do it when you get there? Thanks."
Girl switches back to her original call . . .
"Hey. Yeah. That was Pedro. He's not going to be in until around 9:00 but that's still before me so I told him to do it . . . "
Girl gets another call . . . puts current call on hold . . .
"Hi, Joanne. Yeah . . . I just got off the phone with him . . . he says he won't be there until around 9:00 . . . Me? I'm guessing 9:15ish . . . I don't know what's wrong with Pedro. I talked with him about this two days ago! He's soooo irresponsible. Okay . . . see you when I get there."

Pavlov’s Dog
Why is it that if I have to pee – whether a little or a lot – I can hold it with no problem until the moment I enter a bathroom. As soon as I cross the threshold to the bathroom and shut the door, I suddenly have to pee so bad that I can barely get my pants off in time. I attribute this to the Pavlov’s theory of behavioral conditioning – my body has learned that when I am in the bathroom, I get to pee so when I enter one that feeling is triggered.
I have a couple of friends that I get together with for dinner every couple of weeks and when we do, we always go to the same place – a local burger chain. So now, whenever I pass one of their restaurants, I think immediately of them.
I was walking through the drugstore today and I passed a row of gnomes in boxes and they had one out, in his little plastic wrapper and the minute my eyes saw him . . . I immediately thought of Emma.
When I see orchids I think of Allan . . .
When I see porn I think of Tracee . . .
When I see standard poodles I think of Mum . . .
And on the list goes.
