So, as I was getting dressed the other day in my all-time favorite clothes combo (blue jeans and a white t-shirt with boots) it dawned on me that, historically this was a man's outfit and . . . then I started wondering -- why is it that a woman can wear what traditionally had been men's clothing and not be considered a cross-dresser but if a man wears most any clothing that traditionally has been considered women's wear, they are (considered a cross-dresser, that is).
Now-a-days women wear men's boxers as pjs or shorts; man-style shirts, pants, shoes, etc., and nary a cross-dressing inkling. But still, in this day-and-age, a man wearing women's underwear, dresses, etc., is a transvestite.
Discuss.

So, as usual, I’ve been busy with work. About a year ago, my boss asked me, if I could have any job at the company, what would it be? When I told him, he told me that they were about to hire someone else to do that job so, I was SOL. I wasn’t too thrilled with that but, they came up with another job that I thought would be almost as interesting so I wasn’t too upset.
After about six months they let the guy go and brought me in to tell me the job was mine if I wanted it. My boss warned me that there were some issues with Dave, the guy who would be my boss in the new position, as a manager but that he thought it would be okay.
Well, I can say that he wasn’t quite as bad as the boss at my last company but, he was pretty bad. Worse in some ways – I had no respect for Jane, the boss at my last company, so her insanity pissed me off but didn’t affect me. Dave, I like and respect so . . . it impacted me in ways that the last bad-boss situation didn’t. The sad news is, I’ve lost respect for Dave in the process. I still like him as a person but, in regards to work/management skills – no respect.
What Dave is looking for is a mini-Dave. He wants a puppet. Someone that acts and thinks just like him so he can leave them to do their job cuz he knows that they are a clone of him. Unfortunately for both of us, I’m not a control-freak, erratic, stressed out, constantly-changing-my-mind-but-not-taking-responsibility-for-the-changes-and-am-going-to-blame-everyone-else gay man.
So, basically, I’ve spent the last couple of months feeling like I sucked at my job (even though I knew I didn’t) and that everyone else thought I sucked at my job (even though I know I don’t), wanting to quit, stressed out, etc. And then, last week, my old boss (who is Dave’s boss) pulled me in for a meeting with him and Dave to inform me that . . . I am no longer reporting to Dave and will be reporting to him again . . . temporarily. Dave has three other departments reporting to him and he’s stretched too thin so, I’m going to be reporting to my old boss until Dave gets things in the other departments going well.
All good news, even better news is that ex-boss told me that he doesn’t see me rolling back under Dave so, it’s mostly likely permanent. Even better news.
On the personal front, we’ve been working on the Tahoe house again this Summer. We decided to paint the house (wild sage) and redo the trim around the windows (stained redwood) . . . and then we decided to replace the front door . . . and then we decided to replace the windows . . . and then add a patio . . . and still planning on having the rest of the new fence put up . . . and now, adding a bigger patio. H wants flagstone. I want a multi-level deck. We’ll see who wins that one.
Oh, and the old deck is still there.
I’ve discovered a new beverage that I really like – mango juice and iced tea, mixed. Yum.
H was diagnosed with diabetes last month. He started dropping weight pretty drastically and was beginning to look really, really scrawny and haggard. He went for a check up and they didn’t find anything wrong with him. I made him go back and specifically talk to them about blood sugar, shockingly he did and, unshockingly, he is diabetic.
I’ve become addicted to Dexter.
I’ve decided to give up on Weeds, the Nancy character is getting too annoying and too ridiculous.
I can’t wait for the next season of Californication.
