News from the coast

Not much to write about. Just been working and hanging out. We had guests this weekend -- a family of Russian immigrants. A friend of ours who is Russian and he was in NorCal for a conference and took a few days to come see us and stay with us and his entire family (mom, dad, sister and brother) decided to meet him up here on Friday. Fascinating folks but a little lax in the personal hygiene area.

A mutual friend was in the area as well so he and his wife came by and we all went on a 7 mile hike yesterday and man . . . am I out of shape. My butt and thighs are sore.

Other than the big hike we ate, drank, told stories about Russia and America and had a good time. It was great because they brought all sorts of food and beverages from Russia and insisted we try them all. I love Russian food so was in heaven. The only thing I was a little squeamish about was a canned fish liver thing they brought but, luckily we never got around to opening it but they insisted we keep it. We must eat it with boiled potatoes, I am told.

Tomorrow back to work . . . a whole 'nother reality.
