June 8, 2011

So, NG and I moved in together. It made sense and saves a lot of schlepping around. So far, so good. I'll let you know how it goes.

Sunday will be 3 months we've been "dating" but, we're not really "dating". To me, "dating" means you see each other a few times a week for "dates" but, we've pretty much been together since the first week we met. We've spent every day of the last 3 months (give or take a day or two) together so, if you translate that to a "dating" scenario, it equates to about a year of "dates".

It's been a tough year on the health front. I struggled with a respiratory infection for about 6 weeks before NG made me go to the ER and turned out that I had bronchitis, the beginning of pneumonia, bronchial spasms, and severe asthma triggered by all the other stuff. They put me on a breathing treatment for a couple of hours, pumped me full of antibiotics and steroids and sent me home with more of all that. Took me another three weeks to fully recover but I'm good now.

Back in October I lost my voice and it never really returned so my doc made me go see a throat specialist. He thinks it may be GERD and gave me a prescription for that but, I have absolutely no symptoms of that so . . . I'm not taking it.

On Sunday, I found a lump in my right breast. Totally freaked me out given my family history so I went to the doctor on Monday and had a mammogram and ultrasound yesterday and they gave me the all clear. Said it looks like just tissue but watch for changes which . . . makes me a little uncomfortable. I wish they would have shown me what cancer looks like and what my lump looks like so that I could see that there is a difference. NG thinks we should get a second opinion but . . . I'll wait a bit.

Work has been horrible. Our company merged with another company last year and the CEO and CTO are not used to strong women (there were no women in any position of power or authority in their company; in fact, they have very few women in the company and they have over 200 people) so it's been a big struggle because they find me "difficult" to deal with but when asked why, cannot give any reason cuz, they just can't say, "She's a woman." It's been pretty tough and will continue to be that way so, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Probably more to type about but, we need to run to the store so . . . more later, gators.
