Rainy Days and Saturdays . . .

Nothing much new here (actually, lots of stuff going on but nothing worth writing about). Scout is sick, not sure what’s wrong with her but her ears are hot, she has SEVERE diarrhea , and she’s not eating. She’s going in to see the vet at 4:30. When my cats turn away from food, I know there’s something wrong.

I woke up with a near-migraine this morning so took some stuff to try to bring that under control, opened the window so I could hear the rain, put on a classical music station and the three of us (Jack, Scout and myself) have been curled up and snoring away in bed for most of the day. Not a bad way to spend a cold and rainy Saturday.

There’s absolutely nothing to eat in this house that doesn’t require effort to prepare so, I’m sitting here eating raw almonds and these great little cookies I picked up yesterday at our local bakery called “Swissies” which are very thin, very crispy almond cookies. They’re really, really good. Nothing in them except flour, butter, sugar, almonds and water. Lot of flavor, lot of crunch, and not too sweet. Pretty yummy.

H is out and about roaming around in the crappy weather. He finally dropped the stinking dog off to be groomed this morning. He smelled so bad it was disgusting (the dog, not H) and he’s been dropping chunks of hair all over the house (again, the dog, not H). It’s weird. It’s not like normal shedding, it’s whole chunks of hair. I don’t remember him doing it last year around this time so, not sure if he has something wrong with him or if it’s just that he hasn’t been groomed in quite some time (4 months at least).

He’s a mutt and definitely part some sort of cold weather dog because he has this amazing thick undercoat. I was tempted to ask them to shave him down but, we’re heading into Winter so, probably not a great idea. I was brushing him last weekend and filled up a shopping bag full of hair before my arm got tired and I just quit. The worst part was, after all that it looked like I hadn’t even brushed him.

Well, that’s it for now. I’m going to hit the shower and get ready to take little Missy McPootie to the vet.
