Man, My Life Sucks Because . . .

Mmmm . . .

Uhhhhh . . .

Hmmm . . .

Okay, here's one . . . my cats live 200 miles away from me and with my just starting a new job, I'm going to be away from them for about two full weeks and they'll have forgotten about me by the time I get back up there.

And . . . I drive 500 miles a week just to see my dang cats which has caused me to put 38,000 miles on my new car in just 14 months.

And . . . I'm a lousy commuter. I can't figure out the train and BART schedule well enough to be a consistent commuter. I screwed it up so bad tonight that I ended up at the BART station with over an hour's wait for a train to take me to my car and it was FREEZING cold and I didn't have a jacket so I had to call a friend to pick me up from the BART station and take me to my car at the train station.

And . . . I have a molar that my dentist told me needed a root canal about 4 years ago and I'm so scared of dentists and needles that I haven't gotten it done so it's always weighing on my mind.

And . . . my skin has been very dry lately.

And . . . my diabetes is kind of out of control right now and I can't seem to get it under control.

And . . . that's all I can think of for now. Sorry that I don't ever get depressed, I think it's a chemical imbalance.

Work . . . Day 1

So, today was my first day at the new job and . . . it started off with a bang.

I got in and everyone was a bit busy because of a potential big client coming by to meet with us. So, I was sitting and chatting with the VP of Sales (whom I’ve known for a couple of years) and she was telling me about this meeting and how the potential client was looking for a company who had experience with a certain software application and that even though they hadn’t dealt with that app before, they had looked at the specifications and thought they could do it and I said . . . “Oh, well, did I tell you that I’m a XX certified engineer?” Her reply was (after she picked her chin up off the floor), “Are you fucking kidding me?” to which I replied, “Nope! Not only am I a XX certified engineer but with me working here now, the company becomes an official certified XX company”

Needless to say, joy abounded and she dragged me down to my boss’ office which is next to the owner’s office and said, “Tell them. Tell them what you just told me.” So, I did. More joy abounded so I said, “So, did I earn my pay today? Can I go home now?” They said “Not only did you earn your pay but, I think you need a raise!”

And all within the first 30 minutes of my employment.

It was a good day.
